The Wrong Right: The Hammond Case and the Eighth Amendment

CNN reports that Ammon Bundy, the son of Cliven Bundy and the leading voice in the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, “want(s) the federal government to restore the people’s ‘constitutional rights’.” The article goes on to say that Bundy asserts the need for people to “use the land and resources without fear as free men and women”. The Huffington Post noted Bundy’s Facebook-disseminated call for “all patriots… to stand up now, not stand down”. Regardless of whether these men and women are terrorists, freedom fighters, or something in-between, one thing is for certain: they’re pissed.
